Dennis was born in Goldendale, Washington, and attended schools in Washington and California. He graduated from high school and attended Columbia Christian College in Portland, OR. He met his wife Ginger Stephens at Columbia and they were married August 11, 1967, in Othello, WA. Dennis preached one year in Sandpoint, ID and then was given a scholarship by the Eastside Church of Christ to attend Preston Road School of Preaching in Dallas, TX. Upon graduation, he and Ginger started a new work in Silverton, OR, sponsored by the Molalla Church of Christ. He also preached in Prineville, OR and Mountlake Terrace, WA. As Pulpit Minister of the Mount Lake Terrace Church of Christ, he helped plant churches in West Seattle and Marysville, WA, and also attended Puget Sound College of the Bible working on his BA.
Dennis went back to school and became a licensed Funeral Director in the State of Washington. During his Funeral Service career, he served as the President of the Washington State Funeral Directors Association. He completed training as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) and also Celebrant training at the University of Oklahoma. As a funeral director, he managed 5 Funeral homes and 4 cemeteries.
He also became certified in Traumatology for the Traumatology Institute. Dennis served as a member of the Snohomish County Debriefing Team where he debriefed EMS (emergency service personnel) He served the city of Marysville as a Chaplain for the Police and Fire Departments for 16 years, being awarded the Chief's Meritorious Service Medal.
Dennis again began preaching full time for the 92nd Street Church of Christ in Marysville (formally the Marysville Church of Christ). The work in Marysville is growing and souls are being won for Christ.
