| IndiaINDIA NOTES Statistics Can Be Boring… …Unless they are like these…Church of Christ India Missions is a big work for a big country. It takes a minimum of $4,500per day to do everything we do. So far in 2006 the result is that an average of 582 lost souls are being brought to Jesus every day-that’s an average of only $7.67 per convert. Where will you find a more cost-efficient mission work? Our work has 18 areas of ministry. Some of them are listed below. Here is what $4,500 a day does in India.?? Gospel Meetings. We can conduct a Gospel Meeting for less than $5. The message of Jesus is being shared with well over 2,500,000 people each year just in Gospel meetings--averaging about 2 being baptized per meeting. ?? Preacher Training Schools. More than 1570 one-day-per-week preacher training schools (Kate Cabe Memorial Bible Institute) are in operation throughout India with more than 22,500 students attending classes. Our team consists of more than 15,000 preachers who are on the job today in India. ?? Support for Full-time Workers. We support 110 native Indian evangelists. These men preach in congregations every Sunday, but they are full-time workers on the team. They coordinate our evangelism campaigns & preacher training schools throughout the country. We do not support local preachers with American donations. That is the job of the local congregation. ???? Printing Gospel Literature. There are many hundreds of spoken languages throughout India, but only 17 major written languages (English being one of them). We are in constant need of good printed materials that can be translated into the various languages to be used by our preaching brethren. We also print large quantities of Gospel Tracts & other literature to distribute to people everywhere we go. ?? Gospel Film Teams. A full-length motion picture on the life of Jesus is shown in many places to help generate interest & opportunities to teach. This is done entirely by the Indian brethren-this has helped to lead many thousands to Christ. ?? Tools for Native Indian Preachers. We can buy a “Gospel Chariot” (bicycle) for a preacher for $50. We can buy a reference Bible for $3-& 25 cents buys one New Testament. These are dispersed as fast as we can raise the funds to buy them-many more are needed. ?? Children’s Home Operations. We operate 3 orphan homes & one foster home caring for more than 170 children. There is an ever-increasing need for more American sponsors-$25 a month will sponsor a needy child in India. ?? Free Medical Clinics. Presently 2 free medical clinics are in operation (1 in Hyderabad & 1 in Prakasham District). Hundreds have been brought to Jesus as a result of this good work. ?? Special Preacher Assistance. Limited help is given to needy Indian preachers for emergency medical or financial crises. ??Benevolence for brethren. Certainly there is more need for help than can possibly be met. But in extreme cases every effort is made to offer relief to needy brethren. ?? Women Helping Women & Children. This is one of our most satisfying efforts. There are 16 tailoring schools in key locations to help preachers’ wives learn to make clothing for their families & to sell for additional (& much-needed) family income. Limited educational funding is provided for exceptional college-age children of brethren to assist them in breaking the cycle of poverty & dependency. There are other areas of opportunity, but these give a general idea as to the scope of the work being done. We want to thank you for supporting this mission effort. Think what a blessingyour gift of $4,500 (to take care of all our work for one full day) would be to others-& 582 souls saved as well! Please give as generously as you can to aid this great work. Thank you for your prayers & your financial fellowship! --Robert Hall, Athens, Alabama-- July 2006 |
